Job Purpose
The Woreda Livelihood Expert - Agriculture will lead the implementation of agriculture-focused livelihood interventions in the assigned woreda. This expert will support smallholder farmers and vulnerable households to rebuild and strengthen sustainable agricultural practices, improve food security, and enhance resilience in post-conflict and climate settings.
Key Responsibilities

Agricultural Assessment and Planning:
- Conduct agro-ecological assessments, identify needs, and prioritize interventions for crop and livestock development.
- Develop seasonal and annual action plans for agricultural livelihood support in collaboration with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Implementation of Agricultural Livelihood Activities:
- Support the distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds, tools, livestock, irrigation kits) and ensure proper use.
- Promote climate-smart agriculture, conservation practices, and integrated farming systems.
- Support the establishment of Farmer Field Schools (FFS), demonstration plots, and community seed banks.

Capacity Building and Technical Support:
- Provide training and ongoing technical support to farmers, extension workers, and cooperative members on improved agricultural techniques.
- Facilitate workshops on post-harvest handling, market linkages, and natural resource management.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Monitor field activities regularly, ensuring alignment with work plans, and provide technical troubleshooting as needed.
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to agricultural outputs and livelihood indicators.
- Contribute to progress and final project reports, including success stories and lessons learned.

Community Engagement and Coordination:
- Collaborate with kebele administrators, development agents (DAs), women's groups, and youth to ensure inclusive participation in agricultural activities.
- Coordinate with local government offices (Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources) to align activities with local development plans.
- Represent TDA in woreda-level agricultural and livelihood coordination meetings.

Risk Management and Compliance:
- Promote sustainable practices that reduce environmental degradation and build climate resilience.
- Ensure all agricultural activities adhere to TDA and donor standards, including gender and inclusion, "Do No Harm" principles, and accountability frameworks.
Required Qualification & Experience
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree or higher in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Rural Development, or a related field.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of field-level experience in agricultural livelihoods programming.
Required Capabilities
- Strong technical knowledge in crop production, soil and water conservation, or small livestock systems.
- Proven skills in training facilitation and farmer extension services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Tigrigna; English proficiency is an advantage.
- Computer literacy, especially in MS Word, Excel, and basic data collection tools.
- High integrity, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to community development.
