Division Overview
The Macroeconomics, Finance and Governance Division (MFGD) supports member States in:
- Accelerating economic transformation and inclusive growth.
- Improving macroeconomic management and governance.
- Mobilizing domestic and international public finance.
Internship Details
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Duration: 3 months (extendable based on needs)
Type: Unpaid, full-time (35 hours/week)
Supervision: Under the Director of MFGD and Chief of Macroeconomic Analysis Section (MAS)
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze economic growth sources, labor markets, and demographic trends in Africa.
- Contribute to the Economic Report on Africa (macroeconomic chapter).
- Assist in editing flagship publications and liaising with stakeholders.
- Support outreach activities and operational tasks (e.g., meeting reports, presentations).
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (Master’s/Ph.D. or equivalent).
- If graduated, internship must start within one year of graduation.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams.
- Strong research and analytical abilities.
Languages:
- Fluency in English (required).
- French (advantage).
Personal Attributes:
- Interest in UN’s work and commitment to its Charter ideals.
- Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
